What are cookies?

Text files that websites store on your computer or mobile device when you start using those sites.

  • First-party cookies are cookies that are stored when you visit a particular website. Only that website can read them. In addition, websites may potentially use external services that also set their own cookies, so-called third-party cookies.
  • Persistent cookies are cookies that have been stored on your computer and are not automatically deleted after you close your browser — unlike session cookies, which are always deleted when the browser is closed.

Each time you visit the ELWO website, you will be asked to either accept or refuse cookies.

The purpose is to allow the website to remember your preferences for a certain period of time.

When browsing different parts of the site during a single visit, you will not have to re-enter them.

Cookies can also be used to collect anonymized statistics regarding users’ browsing of our website.

How are cookies used?

The ELWO website mostly uses third-party cookies. These are cookies created and managed by external organizations.

Third-party cookies

Some of our pages display content from external providers, such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

In order for such third-party content to be displayed, you must first accept their terms and conditions. This also includes their cookie policy, over which we have no control.

If you do not activate their content, no third-party cookies will be installed on your device.

Can I control cookies?

Deleting cookies from your device

You can delete all cookies that are already stored on your device at once by clearing your browser’s browsing history. This will remove all cookies from all websites you have visited.

Please note, however, that you may also lose some saved information (e.g., saved login details, site preferences, etc.).

Managing cookies from specific websites

To exercise more detailed control over cookies from specific websites, use the privacy and cookie settings in your browser.

Blocking cookies

Modern browsers can be configured to prevent any cookies from being placed on your device. However, you may then have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit certain sites. Some services and functions may also not work at all (e.g., logging into profiles).

Managing analytics cookies

You can manage your cookie preferences in the Cookie settings tool.
